Ketut's house captivates visitors with its distinctive atmosphere and spiritual energy. It was here, in the village of Pengosekan—widely regarded as the spiritual heart of Ubud—that the late Ketut Liyer resided with his family. Ketut Liyer is best known for his connection with Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of Eat, Pray, Love. During her soul-searching journey in Bali, he offered her guidance and support, helping her rediscover happiness, joy, and gratitude.
In her book, Ms. Gilbert recounts her meaningful encounters with Mr. Ketut Liyer, a traditional Balinese healer who shared with her life-enhancing wisdom aimed at cultivating a positive outlook and overall well-being.
Since the early 1700s, Bali—particularly Ubud—has become a refuge for artists, dancers, musicians, and performers from across the Indonesian archipelago. This rich cultural influx has shaped Ubud into a unique destination renowned for its traditions and artistic heritage. With its ancient architecture and wide array of cultural experiences, Ubud remains the spiritual and artistic heart of Bali, offering visitors both inspiration and charm.
The reading of palm leaves, sacred scriptures and traditional healing dates back to the third century BC. The ancient and valuable has been passed down in our family for many generations and is still appreciated today 💖
By reading the lines on their hand, a person will become aware of their weaknesses and potential, the good and bad within themselves, and receive some warnings about living their life. After realizing all of this, they are invited to pray according to their own religion, guided by a priest with prayer mantras and praises to God. Then, with holy water, their spirit or soul is healed and cleansed, allowing them to think more clearly and live their life more peacefully.
