I Wayan Gede Wirawan, Founder of the Owl Tower Bali Foundation and Chairman of the Owlery Indonesia Bali Chapter, explained that the owls, birds, and animals housed in enclosures are part of a breeding initiative focused on conservation and education. Most of the animals are kept in pairs as part of this effort, which also aims to raise public awareness about the importance of wildlife preservation.
The Foundation is deeply committed to the conservation of various owl species. While owls are not currently classified as endangered, we are increasingly concerned that the growing capture of wild owls could ultimately lead to their extinction.
Once the breeding process is successful, some of the offspring will be released back into the wild, while others may be entrusted to interested members of Owlery Bali to support continued breeding efforts.
Public understanding of Owls is gradually increasing. Through knowledge-sharing, Wirawan hopes that Owl enthusiasts will learn how to care for them responsibly and sustainably.
Looking ahead, he envisions Owl Tower Bali evolving into a leading foundation fully dedicated to the conservation and protection of Owls.
